About

What is RUNCLAX?

RUNCLAX is a runner results platform for Sacramento-area races. It brings results, rankings, and runner profiles together into a single searchable index so you can see how you stack up across every race we cover.

The Runner Index

CLAX stands for Competitive Local Athlete indeX — the heart of RUNCLAX. Every runner with at least three recent results earns a score: the average of their three best age-graded performances over the trailing three years. That single number places you into one of five tiers — from Participant to World Class — so you can compare yourself against any other runner in the community regardless of age, gender, or preferred distance.

World Class 90%+National Class 80%+Regional Class 70%+Local Competitive 60%+Participant 0%+

Runner profiles show your Runner Index badge, personal bests, an age-graded trend, predicted race times based on your index, podium and win stats, a year-by-year summary, and your full race history.

How to use the app

Coverage note

We don't have every race in the database yet. RUNCLAX currently covers a growing set of Sacramento-area races — if a race isn't here, it likely hasn't been ingested yet, not that no results exist. Check back as we continue adding events.

Age grading methodology

Every result on RUNCLAX is age-graded using the USATF Masters Long Distance Running (MLDR) 2025 road age-grading tables (maintained by Alan Jones). These single-year factors cover ages 5–99 for the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon for men and women, and are packaged with the backend as services/mldr_2025_factors.csv.

Each result's percentage is computed from the WMA road open standards for 5 K / 10 K / Half / Marathon × M/F:

age_graded % = open_standard / (actual_time × age_factor)

Because open standards are world-class times, the percentage can exceed 100 for elite runners on good days. Our Sacramento-area data averages around 47% and ranges from 6.4% to 99.5%. Factors are applied at ingest time — every result row stores its own age_graded_percentage, so leaderboards, profiles, and the Runner Index simply read stored values.
